Teaching is one of my greatest joys.
Helping people find a new way to express themselves and to explore a new part of themselves gives me tremendous satisfaction. I enjoy teaching all ages and experience levels.
I find it disturbing that many people were encouraged not to sing at some point in their lives. Sadly, sometimes this was spoken by a music teacher. I often say that an Algebra teacher who tells a student that they have no talent for Algebra and shouldn't bother trying, would be fired. Music teachers are allowed to discourage their students. There are many extraordinary music teachers who do their best to encourage students at all levels. Some are simply overworked and underfunded. But students, even if there is not an appropriate class for them, should never be told not to sing.
